Global Child Care Services recruits home child care providers in the east and south ends of Ottawa to offer nurturing, stimulating, quality home child care.

 

This is a self-employment opportunity in affiliation with a not-for-profit agency which offers you the advantage of working in your own home, while doing rewarding work which makes a difference in the lives of children and families in your community.

  • We are enrolled in the Canada-wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) system, allowing families to access licensed home child care at deeply discounted fees.

  • Payment for your services at established rates made directly by Global Child Care Services.

  • A comprehensive Provider Reference Manual containing policies, forms and resources to guide you in delivering safe, high quality child care which meets the requirements of the Child Care and Early Years Act.

  • Assistance with the placement of children in your home and follow-up support with the integration of new children.

  • Regular home visits and ongoing support as needed from a Home Child Care Advisor.

  • Support and information on all aspects of child development and child guidance.

  • Start-up craft kits and access on a regular basis to resources and activity ideas to inspire creativity.

  • A newsletter which offers ideas and information to help you plan your days with the children, and features ways to incorporate How Does Learning Happen: Ontario's Pedagogy for the Early Years into your planning of those activities. 

  • Free workshops and other professional development opportunities.

  • Special events which bring home child care providers together to celebrate and learn.

  • Access to a free equipment loaning program for the exclusive use of providers affiliated with Global Child Care Services. Infant, toddler and preschool equipment including playpens, highchairs, strollers, gates and child-sized tables and chairs may be borrowed to assist you in providing child care and to help ensure the safety of children in your home. Equipment requests are made through your Home Child Care Advisor, and the items are delivered to your door at a pre-arranged date by our delivery worker in the Global Child Care Services delivery van.

Things to Consider before Applying to become a Home Child Care Provider with Global:

 

  1. Your home must be entirely smoke-free.

  2. You cannot have an in-ground swimming pool, an above-ground swimming pool, a hot tub or a pond on your premises.

  3. You must provide proof of immunization for yourself and all persons ordinarily resident in your home.

  4. You must be 18 years of age or older.

  5. You will undergo a screening process which includes but is not limited to a criminal records check for the vulnerable sector (VSC), personal references, an assessment of your child care experience and general suitability to the work of a home child care provider.

  6. Your home/premises will undergo a thorough safety-check.
